“No one comes to the Father except through me.” - Jesus Christ

25 Outrageous Things Jesus Said About Himself

June 10th, 2008 Posted in General

Due to the claims that Jesus made about himself, he can not simply be a good teacher or prophet or idealist or a clever story teller or revolutionist or whatever else someone might want to call him. The complete audacity and outrageous things that Jesus said about himself would disqualify him as any of those things. If he is not truly all he claimed to be, then he is a habitual liar or a genuine lunatic. There is no middle ground.

25 Outrageous Claims

(This list was given in a sermon by Tommy Nelson, Pastor of Denton Bible Church.)
In no particular order, Jesus said . . .

  1. His birthday was not the beginning of his life.
  2. He is the only begotten Son of God; he is divine as God is divine.
  3. He is the creator of all things; all things came into being by him for him.
  4. He is Eternal.
  5. He is Virgin Born.
  6. All scripture was written to point man to him.
  7. He never sinned.
  8. He called himself the Messiah, the Christ, the Anointed One.
  9. He is to be worshiped as God.
  10. He is the revealer of God; the visible image of the invisible God.
  11. He is the substitute for man.
  12. He is resurrected.
  13. In his resurrection, he conquered Satan.
  14. He bodily ascended into heaven and sits at God’s right hand, given all authority, bringing all things under subjection at God’s feet.
  15. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and no one can come to God but through him.
  16. He is the focus of the Holy Spirit, who convicts men of sin and points them to Jesus for salvation.
  17. He calls all men to repent of their sins and false religions and turn to him.
  18. The age we are in (after his death and prior to second coming) is a merciful delay of the judgment and destruction of the world.
  19. He says that those who believe in him are saved.
  20. The Saved have a “reborn” quality to them.
  21. He will someday destroy planet Earth, along with the rest of the universe.
  22. He says he will return and receive his church unto him and rule for 1000 years.
  23. His reign will be the Kingdom of God (Heaven); peace on earth and good will to men.
  24. He claimed he would raise the dead. The evil, to a resurrection of a body to enter into eternal Judgment; the saved, to a body that will enter to eternal heaven.
  25. He claimed that everyone who believes in him, will have a personal testimony of His saving power, meaning we don’t have to be saved in groups. We are loved individually as children of God.
